Miles began his career in the 1980’s taking photos at an advertising studio and freelancing for newspapers and magazines.
He moved into moving image when photography turned digital, spending the next 20 years working as a news cameraman, journalist and director mostly for the BBC.
In late 2013 he was diagnosed with primary lateral sclerosis - a slowly developing type of motor neurone disease. Six months later, having become quite disabled, he was forced to stop working.
He now takes photographs while travelling on a mobility scooter. His work has been exhibited at shows in London and the West Midlands raising thousands of pounds for neurological charities in picture sales.
Most of the images in the gallery on this website were taken from the seat of his mobility scooter. Some were taken on two feet before his diagnosis. It can be interesting to try and spot the difference in perspective and style.
Miles gives inspiring talks raising awareness of MND. If you would like to book him for a talk (or to buy some of his work) please get in touch using the contact link in the menu.
